This summer, in preparation for the return of our Autumn mentoring programme, Hope in Tottenham has moved its mentor training online.
After a morning lead by John Brooker, an expert at Solution Focus, HiT is proud to announce the latest class of newly trained mentors are ready to put their skills to use.
John’s training has equipped mentors with skills that focus on building encouraging conversations and bringing out the best from within their mentees. These mentors will go on to help mentees to imagine the future they want and identify the resources they have in themselves to make it happen.
Our training avoids positioning the mentor as an ‘expert’ but builds confidence in the mentor’s skills to encourage, guide and challenge the mentee they are partnered with, in a way which leads to genuine progress for the young person.
Feedback from the session was overwhelmingly positive, with mentors now equipped with the skills they need and envisioned by the potential difference they can make in getting alongside and supporting a young person in the borough of Haringey.
We are excited to put our new mentors into action this Autumn!
